Ajinkya Rahane due to scoreboard error thought he had completed his century and starts celebrating

On 27th October 2018, Deodar Trophy final match between India B and India C was held at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi. The final match was won by India C by 29 runs. Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Ishan Kishan hit centuries.

BCCI posted a video of scoreboard error at the Feroz Shah Kotla that convinced Ajinkya Rahane to celebrate his century. He thought he had completed his century and raised his bat to acknowledge the support of the crowd. But in reality, there were still three runs to go. Even Delhi viewers too looked applauding Rahane on his century.

Suresh Raina who was watching the match from the dressing room quickly realized the scoreboard mistake and told Rahane to stop celebrating as he needs three more runs to reach the century.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video Twitter that read as "What happened there? @ajinkyarahane88 felt he got to a 100, @ImRaina was quick to rectify there were 3 more runs to go."

India C Skipper Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten and scored 144 runs off 156 balls and Ishan Kishan scored 114 runs off 87 balls and total India C scored 352 runs for seven in 50 overs match.

The opposite team India B responded by scoring 323 runs in 46.1 overs. India B Captain Shreyas Iyer hit eight sixes and scored 148 runs off 114 balls for India B but it went in vain as Ajinkya Rahane lifted the trophy for India C.

Ajinkya Rahane performs brilliantly as a limited-overs batsman. He is a good player overseas. He scored 106 against England in Birmingham in 2014 and also 79 against South Africa at Melbourne in the 2015 World Cup.

In upcoming India’s Tour to Australia starting from November 21, Rahane hold a place in India’s Test Squad. It will be interesting to watch how Rahane performs in the tests on this overseas tour.
